Let's Go to the City 9.15.2010

Just wanted to let you see the latest addition. I think it is fun! What do you think?

New Direction 9.15.2010

Well folks, Butterfly Chirp has been going through some changes. In spite of my love for quilting, which I will continue to pursue, my business is taking on a life of it's own in the cross stitch world. I have been blessed by a new friend whose success in that industry is affording us the opportunity to pursue our own. Butterfly Chirp Quilt and Cross Stitch Co. is now Butterfly Chirp Cross Stitch Co., and we will be selling cross stitch patterns as a wholesaler to the retail industry. You can view our available charts by visiting www.butterflychirp.com. If you find one you like, please let your local cross stitch store know, and they can order it for you.
As for the quilting, you will still be able to purchase quilts in our Etsy store located at www.etsy.com/shop/gschwarz1. We plan to keep this store updated as often as possible, so hopefully you will always see something you like!
Thank you to all our friends, and we would appreciate your prayers for our venture!

Aren't They Fabulous?

These are my 3 wonderful kiddos. I just snapped this photo while waiting for a table in a restaurant (thank God for my purse camera). This is how they look, no editing, no cropping. Straight out of the camera. I couldn't ask for more wonderful children. God has blessed me with the best!

I know it doesn't look like much, but you are seeing 96 squares made in the last 2 weeks. And now, I get to cut them all up and sew them back together again in a random fashion. Oh, what fun this quilting world is.
Have a wonderful week.

Look At Our Girl

Look at our beautiful girl, all dressed up and ready to dance with her Daddy at the school's Father Daughter Dance. She looked so pretty and grown-up. It was all I could do not to cry. They had such a good time. They danced, played games, and ate candy and then went out to the restaurant of her choice. It was her first dance. I think it was a success!

This is my newest addition. It is called Candy Box by Freckleberry Farm. I bought the pattern while shopping at the Long Beach International Quilt Show which I was lucky enough to attend last summer. The fabric is Aunt Grace Around the World, and all but the borders were fat quarters. I believe this is my favorite so far. I love how it came together in the end. #7 and counting. I love to quilt!

364 squares...

Cut into 288 cirlces...

Plus one super fun pattern...

All cut up and put together again to make one super cool block. And, after I make 95 more, will come together into 2 coordinating but different quilts for my girls. I know this is so gonna be worth all the work! Isn't that funky? (By the way, I can't cut a decent circle out of a sqaure to save my life, but I like the wonky look of it anyway!)

I did it, I did it, I did it! I was so worried when Rene asked us to improv crosses for the February Quilting Bee. She asked for crosses of our own design. While I wouldn't exactly call this designing, I am so happy that I was able to come up with something that is square and resembles a cross. I was really scared, but now I am looking forward to doing it again. I learned so much by doing this. Thanks Rene. I hope you like them.

I have finally gotten to take pictures and blog about my Turning Twenty Christmas quilt which I made in November and the baby quilt I just finished this week. I am really proud of the baby quilt. It is the first time I ever made one specifically to give away. I am nervous about how it will be received. I hope she likes it. It is for a little girl, so in that way it is not traditional at all. But, I think it is very child friendly. So, maybe it will be okay!
Check out that quilting. I asked my quilter to use a contemporary geometric pattern, and she chose the circles. I think it is totally perfect. Thank you, Bobbi. Can you believe she quilted and put the binding on it for me in one day?
By the way, that beautiful little girl up at the top of the post is my middle child, Anelsie. Isn't she pretty?

Finally, finally, finally I have had some time to quilt. In the last week I finished my square for the quilting bee, finished a quilt I have been working on since the late fall, and made a baby quilt for a friend whose baby was born last week (congratulations Maggie). Pictures will be coming.
The square pictured above was an amazing experience. It was chosen by a friend in the quilting bee and she provided the fabric, instructions, and foundation pieces to put it together. It was my first experience with paper piecing, and I was so nervous. Luckily, I have a great friend who is a fabulous quilter. She came over 2 different times to help me with it, and I believe now I could paper piece by myself! Yeah, a new technique learned! By the way, isn't it pretty. Donna from the Bee chose a beautiful pattern and gorgeous fabric. I cannot wait to see it finished.
